Take Your Child to Work Day

13 04 2009

What does the word archive mean to you?  Is it a dusty basement with old papers piled on top of each other where one gray haired person works?  Is it a modern place with lots of computers where you can access any document ever created on the Internet?  Who are the people who work in archives and how did they get there?   What is it they spend their days doing?

On Thursday, April 23, 2009, the MSU Archives is participating in Take Your Child to Work Day.  The archives is offering three tours to participants.  These tours are 30 minutes long and are at 8:30am, 10:30am, and 2:30pm.  During the tour you will learn what the archives is, what the archivists do each day, and see some of the historical records that are preserved there.  The records include photographs, maps, blueprints, and posters.
