On September 29, Lisa Schmidt, electronic records archivist, will present at the Best Practices Exchange in Phoenix, Arizona, a meeting of practitioners in government and university archives and libraries, educators, and product developers. Her presentation, “A Tale of Two Michigan State University Digital Preservation Projects,” will compare and contrast aspects of two NHPRC-funded projects, the H-Net e-mail list preservation project and the new “Spartan Archive” project for creating a permanent preservation environment for the university’s born-digital records. Schmidt will review lessons learned from the H-Net project and how they will inform the development of Spartan Archive. The presentation will be posted on the Spartan Archive project website during the first week of October.
