On Thursday, April 7, 2011, the University Archives & Historical Collections (UAHC) and the G. Robert Vincent Voice Library (VVL) received a recognition award from the MSU Faculty Emeriti Association for Outstanding Contributions by an Academic or Support Unit for Creating Opportunities for Faculty Emeriti. The award was for the many contributions in preserving for posterity the thoughts and reflections of the faculty emeriti. Through the services and expertise of the VVL and the UACH retired MSU faculty are afforded the opportunity to share their perceptions, reflections and personal stories about their Michigan State University tenure. The interviews, which take place in the VVL studios in the Main Library, cover how disciplines, pedagogy, students, and technologies have evolved and changed over time. The UAHC will hold a permanent preservation copy of all interviews conducted through this project.
The UAHC was represented at the luncheon by Public Services Archivist Portia Vescio. The VVL was represented by John Shaw.
